Flipped DVD box set: let it be the one merits you

Do you think of your first love in adolescence? Do you remember those moments of heartbeats? "Flipped" DVD box set will make you remind of it once again.

Here is a lovely movie about a girl who has adored a boy ever since he moved into the neighborhood in the second grade. She even likes his smell, and it is true we cannot love someone who isn't aromatic to our hearts. All through grade school and into high school, she pursues him; they're like the runners in Keats' “Ode on a Grecian Urn” who pursue each other for eternity without ever drawing closer. In Reiner's film, they flip and start running in the other direction.

Madeline Carroll plays Juli Baker, who was determined to get Bryce Loski (Callan McAuliffe) to like her when they were kids, but in eighth grade has turned her attention to more urgent matters, like sparing the life of the beautiful sycamore tree in her front yard. It is threatened with being chopped down by the forces of evil, and she climbs it and won't come down. That shows some character, muses Bryce's grandfather Chet (John Mahoney). If he were Bryce, he'd notice a girl like that. Bryce begins to catch on.

The way "Flipped"  is presented, first telling a story through the eyes and thoughts of Bryce and then again through the eyes and thoughts of Juli, could have easily been a disaster in less capable hands, but, surprisingly, the audience never feels bored by the repetition. Nearly every event in the film is told at least twice but, because you are so invested in the characters, you actually begin to eagerly anticipate what the other side of the story will be. There are scenes in which Bryce senses Juli’s emotions, but you’ll want to take that look behind the curtain and understand why she feels the way she does.

When hearing the ending music of this film: let it be me, those memory left in the past begin to spread…

Schindler's List DVD box set: the magic of Steven Spielberg

No matter how much controversy people are for Spielberg movie is much controversy, those movies’ box office are first-class, inculpable. After his brewing for thirty years, Schindler's List DVD box setwas finally showed. In "schindler's list," Spielberg created a hero, but who is the real hero, Schindler or Stery boon? Who is to lead the Jews out of Egypt Moses?

The documentary style allows Spielberg to deliver his message without preaching. The clever use of light and shade also makes it visually stunning. When Oskar Schindler visits a night club, he looks like a 1930s movie star as his cigarette smoke spirals above his head, his eyes hidden in the shade.

It is the story of German businessman Oskar Schindler which captivates right to the end. He is transformed from physically imposing, charismatic philanderer to the humbled man, wishing he had saved more lives.

The Schindler's List is 184 minutes long, and like all great movies, it seems too short. It begins with Schindler (Liam Neeson), a tall, strong man with an intimidating physical presence. He dresses expensively and frequents nightclubs, buying caviar and champagne for Nazi officers and their girls, and he likes to get his picture taken with the top brass. He wears a Nazi party emblem proudly in his buttonhole. He has impeccable black market contacts, and he's able to find nylons, cigarettes, brandy: He is the right man to know. The authorities are happy to help him open a factory to build enameled cooking utensils that army kitchens can use. He is happy to hire Jews because their wages are lower, and Schindler will get richer that way.

All in all, we get, as the title implies, a list of people, of faces, of stories that make the atrocities of World War II real.

Die Welle

A huge hit in its native country, The Wave（Die Welle） DVD box set is loosely based on true events (although they happened in California, not Germany) and stars Jurgen Vogel as hip, leather-jacketed teacher Mr Wenger, who's annoyed when he's assigned autocracy instead of anarchy during School Political Project Week. However, he quickly gets fired up when his class argue over whether or not a dictatorship could still happen in modern day Germany, leading him to encourage his students to form their own political movement.

Needless to say, their movement (dubbed 'The Wave'), with its accompanying white shirt uniform and slogan of 'Discipline through Strength' proves surprisingly popular and soon the whole school is getting in on the act. Unfortunately, it soon becomes clear that some students are taking The Wave far more seriously than others, with disastrous results.

After watching the Wave (Die Welle) DVD box set, it gives us a unique view of high school life, perhaps only to people who aren’t from Germany (where the movie is set), where it’s not only all about bullying, gangs, and boring, run-of-the-mill storylines involving cheerleaders or school newspaper headlines. It doesn’t show the students as immature but rather as having potential and interesting ideas of their own, which I think reflects the truth of the real world.

The group's creation ("The Wave" of the title) starts off like an innocent and fairly simple exercise to get the students to work together and show their true potential. But as the movie goes on there are some fantastic layers of complexity which build up as the group gets more and more out of hand. We go from trying to come up with names and logos to running about the town spraying graffiti and fighting with the rival “Anarchist” gang. The well executed way in which this complexity comes about can only be put across if you see the movie for yourself.

Walkabout

Can’t do so we are moved

Based on a true story from Japan, Hachiko Monogatari (literally “The Tale of Hachiko”) is about a loyal dog Hachiko – a symbol of loyalty. As to speak, Hachi: A Dog's Tale DVD box set is a best dog movie ever.

Hachi is a loving but willful companion. For instance, he refuses to play fetch, despite Parker’s many training attempts. He also ignores his master’s instruction not to follow him to the train station for work every day. He even shows up again promptly at 5 p.m. to wait for Parker to step off the train again. One of the things that sets this movie apart from the other movies that involve animals is how they stuck to reality instead of throwing in some hard to believe elements here and there just to make it more entertaining. Unlike other Japanese remakes, this movie actually gives credit to the original story so that you don’t get the sense that Hollywood wants to call it its own. All the actors in the movie do a superb job in making you feel as if you were a part of the community embracing the dog.

I really like Hachi and I have such a dog. Hachi love his master for a decade, which for the dog is almost a lifetime. What makes Hachi so persistent, in the station showing his warm smile in the cold nights and every day in a few years carefully accompany with his master? How many people can do that in the world?

Why we are moved by the Hachi: A Dog's Tale DVD box set: rooted in that we cannot do well as the Hachi. Actually, everyone has kind-hearted, but who is willing to regretless do good to others, who can simply company with someone with only touched. We always consider too much.

If you encounter your "Hachiko", please treat him well.
